Horizon E700 Elliptical Trainer Review
The
Horizon E700 elliptical trainer has some nice features for the
current discounted price that you will find at places like Dick's
Sporting.
The 18" stride is adequate for an average height user.
If you are over 6', you definitely want to think about getting
an elliptical that is at least 20".
I like the look and feel of the console and display. You get
five windows to report multiple feedback simultaneously. The
buttons are arranged in a user-friendly fashion, giving you
simple access to numerous functions.
They designed the E700 so that the pedals a fairly close together.
Shorter individuals will appreciate that. Often people who are
below average height find the width between the pedals to be
too wide and discomforting.
In
addition, you get pivot pedals, where the pedals angle with
the elliptical stride.
At $800 the warranty is reasonable, and better than many ProForm
ellipticals.
They claim it has a heavy-duty flywheel, but it only weighs
in at 14 lbs. It is not the feel you would get from an elliptical
with a heavier wheel, but it still is relatively smooth.
The one issue I have is with the price. MSRP is $1,599 on the
Horizon Fitness site. At Dick's Sporting, it is going for $799,
without shipping. Is Horizon over inflating the price, or are
they marketing it down that much?
Our Review - Horizon E700 Elliptical Trainer
At $800, I would suggest this is an elliptical worth considering.
However, when I receive reviews like the ones below, I get concerned
about the quality control. My experience with testing Horizon
ellipticals at places like Dick's is that they tend to be falling
apart. That is understandable, considering the abuse they get
on the floors.
Before I could recommend Horizon E700 elliptical, I would need
to see some positive reviews from people who have had the machine
for a period of time and are satisfied.
The one Horizon elliptical I did like was the e1200.
Although, once again, I am not sure about the service record.
You may also want to check out the Schwinn
430. It has gotten some very positive reviews.
Customer Review
We purchased this machine brand new from Dick's. We used
it for 4 days then the bearings went out. When the tech tried
to repair the bearings he noticed another broken part. After
ordering this second part 3 times because Horizon couldn't
seem to send it out, they sent the wrong parts. This machine
is the biggest piece of junk I have ever purchased! - Denise
I payed 500 for this machine at play it again sports and it is the best fitness investment i have ever made. The elliptical has not had a problem to this day. The store i bought it from, not only had the best price by far they also service it and will take care of any future problems if i my have them. All of you people who are to fat to use this elliptical and break the bearings in two uses should open your wallet or get a second second job and spend some real money on and elliptical that will support your fat ass!!! I give this wonderful piece of equipment a astonishing 8.5 out of 10. - Mike
We purchased this product and used it twice and the bearings
wore out. It took weeks before we were able to get someone
out here to fix the machine. We don't recommend this product
at all - they need use higher-quality parts so that it withstands
being used more than once. It is an expensive piece of junk.
My wife used it 3 times and it seized up. We called the
manufacturer and left a message and was not returned. We called
again, was on hold for 30 minutes and finally got a rep on
the line. We were told the parts were on back order because
bearings were used with no grease in them and we would be
contacted within 24 hours from a local service company. Still
have not heard from the local service tech a week later, and
the parts have not arrived. I called Dick's and spoke to two
managers and they said they would call me back. At this point
I think I'm going to just get my money back and buy another
brand with better quality control. Another problem was that
one of the foot pedals was not properly tapped out, so the
screws would not go in all the way.
