In addition to the numerous features, what makes both the AudioStrider 900 and 990 an appealing offer is the power incline. It is similar to the incline found on treadmills. It provides two advantages. First, when you crank up the incline it gives you a more intense cardio workout. It is just like going up a steep incline like a hill or mountain. And in general, incline training will allow you to burn more calories in less time. However, the other important factor of the AudioStrider 900 is the number of standard features that come with this model. This is what separates NordicTrack from the competition. Being part of the largest fitness equipment company in the world, they can offer more for less. AudioStrider 900 Elliptical Trainer Features...iFIT Technology - iFIT is like having your own personal trainer. iFIT is a series of programmable cards you insert into the elliptical trainer (Price $30). Each card offers an 8-week program that covers 24 different workouts. The programs control the resistance and duration of the workout, and are designed by personal trainers. Included is audio coaching for motivation and suggestions to optimize your workout. There are 3 levels to choose from - beginner, intermediate and advanced. In addition, they cover different fitness goals - wellness, weight loss, body shaping and endurance. 20 Installed Workout Programs - In addition to the iFIT technology the 900 is equipped with a generous selection of exercise programs. You get a variety of challenges that allow you to change up your exercise routine. You can choose between aerobic, weight-loss or performance workouts. Sound System - I personally listen to music while working out on an elliptical trainer. It makes the time go by while exercising in place. The sound system on the AudioStrider is not going to blow you away, but it is convenient having the sound directed right at you. There is an input for your iPod or MP3 player. Quick Target Toning - Part of NordicTrack's success are the numerous innovative features that help you achieve your fitness goals. They have a program that allows you to work specific areas like glutes, quads, hamstrings and your upper body. You press a muscle group you want to target and the AudioStrider 900 controls the resistance and the incline. I've never used this feature, but in theory it sounds intriguing. Built-in Fan - Even though this is a low cost add-on, fans are one of the most popular features on fitness equipment. The output is limited, but having the fan right in front of you is a plus. Our Review - NordicTrack AudioStrider 900Considering the similarities between the NordicTrack AudioStrider 900 and 990, making a choice really comes down to price. The real difference between the two appears to be a slight difference in the console and the overlay. So if either models is less than the other - guess which one you should buy? The AudioStrider 990 has been out for several years, and for an elliptical trainer that leans towards the high-end of a budget machine, it has a good service record. I've gotten a few customer complaints about quality control issues, but considering the huge number of overall sales, I would say these negative reviews were insignificant. Therefore, you can probably expect the same quality out of the 900. I would caution that some taller individuals might find the 18" stride on the AudioStrider 900 to be a somewhat restricting. Furthermore, I would put the weight limit at around 240 lbs. - max. I also recommend you upgrade the warranty by at least another year and protect your investment. My recommendation is ff the NordicTrack AudioStrider 900 is selling for around $900, this may be one of the better bargains for a budget elliptical trainer.
