NordicTrack E7 SV Front Drive
Elliptical Trainer Review

NordicTrack E7 sv Front Drive Elliptical Trainer Review and RatingThe NordicTrack E7 SV is a decent elliptical trainer, however, when the  price is comparable to the NordicTrack AudioTrainer 990, it is a better value.

My main issues with the NordicTrack E7 EV is that it is a light weight machine that is not very stable. It also has a stride length that is chopping and more oval than ellliptical.

Note: As of 8/24/09 the NordicTrack E7 SV was no longer available. Even if it was I would not encourage you to buy this elliptical. Go to www.NordicTrack.com for the latest models.

The NordicTrack E7 SV vs. The NordicTrack AudioTrainer 990

Overall Design - The E7 SV is a front drive elliptical, while the AudioTrainer 990 is a rear drive.  Although there are some excellent front drive ellipticals, in choosing between the front drive design on the ASR 1000 and the rear drive on the 990, I prefer the 990.  It has a smoother elliptical stride and overall it is a more stable machine.

NordicTrack ASR 1000 Pro ConsoleTrack Record - The NordicTrack E7 SV elliptical is relatively new.  It really has no service record.  Meanwhile, the AudioTrainer 990 has been on the market for a couple of years.  Considering it qualifies at the high-end of the budget category it has a fairly impressive service record.  It also received a "Best Buy" rating from the #1 consumer magazine, which I cannot mention by name.

Incline Feature - Both the NordicTrack E7 SV and the AudioStrider 990 have and incline feature. It is similar to the incline capability of a treadmill.  The advantage of inclining the elliptical stride is you get a more intense workout and you can target different leg muscles.  The problem with the E7 SV is that the incline function is manual.  That means if you want to change the incline you have to get off the elliptical and make the adjustment.  The AudioStrider 990 has a power incline feature.

Both models come with iFit technology.  You can buy workout cards that control the resistance level of your elliptical and provide audio coaching.  A very popular feature.

Both models have built-in speakers where you can plug in MP3 players.  However, the AudioStrider 990 can be folded to save space and make it easier to move around.

Finally, both have a 1-year parts and labor warranty.  Regardless of which model you purchase, I suggest you get an extended warranty and protect your investment.

Our Review - The NordicTrack E7 SV Elliptical Trainer

If you can afford it upgrade to either the NordicTrack AudioStrider 800 or the NordicTrack AudioStrider 990. Both or better quality machines that are more durable and stable. The each have an incline feature. Overall, I am not that impressed with E7 SV. I do not feel it is one of their better designs or effort.
