SpaceSaver E5 si Elliptical Trainer Review
The NordicTrack SpaceSaver E5 si elliptical trainer is a stripped down version of models like the SpaceSaver Plus. The feature that really stands out is the price.
This is a good starter elliptical for people who want to get back into shape but spend a fortune. There are some limitation to this cross training machine, but at around $600 it is probably one of the better values at that price range. The NordicTrack SpaceSaver E5 si Features...

Folding
Elliptical - The NordicTrack SpaceSaver folds and saves about 24" of space when it is folded. Not a considerable amount,
but enough to fit it into a corner. The one benefit when the elliptical is folded
is it makes it easier to move around. Most ellipticals can be a real pain to move.
I had some concerns about the folding feature negatively affecting the
stability, but found that there was no movement at the joints.
Sound
System - Studies show that music motivates people when they
exercise. With the SpaceSaver E5 si you get built-in speakers
and can connect your iPod or MP3 player. Overall, the sound
is not that bad.
iFit Technology - iFit is a series of workout cards
you plug into the elliptical. Each card has a number of progressive
exercises designed by a certified professional trainer. The
cards control the level of resistance and focus on different
areas of the body.
An Oversize Fan - Most
fans on fitness equipment are so small they are useless. This fan actually cools
you off.
1 Year Parts and Labor Warranty - Many ellipticals in this
price range only cover 90 days. You may want to consider extending the warranty
by 1-2 years to avoid service costs down the road.
Our Review - NordicTrack SpaceSaver E5 si Elliptical Trainer
As I mentioned, what makes the SpaceSaver E5 si worth considering is the price. You are getting a decent budget elliptical for not a whole lot of money (When priced below $600). And features like iFit technology and built-in speakers make it even a better value.
My
only recommendation is if you are over 6', you may want to consider an
elliptical with a 20" stride. The maximum stride length on the
SpaceSaver is 18". Also, as far as ellipticals go, this model tends to be lighter than average. I would set the user weight limit at around 210 lbs. Furthermore, the SpaveSaver is best for moderate usage. If you are a hardcore athlete you will want to upgrade.
Consumer Magazine Rating
A popular consumer rating magazine, whose name I cannot mention, gave the NordicTrack E5 si a "Very Good" rating for ease of use and construction. I'm not sure I totally agree with that, but the E5 is probably one of the better built ellipticals when priced at $600 or less.
