ProForm 10.0 ZE Elliptical Trainer Review
The ProForm 10.0 ZE Elliptical Trainer is the 2010 version of their popular Spacesaver crosstrainers. There are also NordicTrack version, which is built by the same company. They've been building this model for several years, and every year they add more features and tweak the quality. This is not a high-end machine and certainly has some limitations. However, in the mid-range budget category it is one of the better values.
Note: As of 3/8/10 the ProForm 10.0 ZE Elliptical Trainer was selling for $599 with shipping. Go to

The signature features of the ProForm 10.0 ZE are the adjustable stride length and the ability to fold. With the adjustable stride you have your choice of 13", 15", or 18". By adjusting the stride you can target different muscles. For example...
- 13" Stride - You target the thighs.
- 15" Stride - You focus on the hips and abs.
- 18" Stride - Your legs stretch and you emphasize the back, legs and buns.
With the 10.0 ZE the longest stride is 18". This length is adequate for average height individuals, but people over 5'10" may prefer an elliptical with a 20" stride length.
With the ProForm 10.0 ZE you have the ability to fold the machine. There are two advantages. The first is the obvious. When folded you save space. In addition, it is easier to move around in case you need to constantly reposition it. Initially I was concerned about the folding mechanism and how that would affect the stability. It appears where the sections join are engineered to be fairly sturdy.
Other Features - ProForm 10.0 ZE Elliptical Trainer
iFit Technology - iFit is a series of workout cards you plug into the elliptical. Each card has a number of progressive exercises designed by a certified professional trainer. The cards control the level of resistance and focus on different areas of the body. They also include audio coaching for further motivation. There is an additional cost for the cards. See list of iFit Cards.
Built-in Fan - This fan actually throws out some breeze in comparison to other brands whose fans are a joke.
Built-in Speakers - The speakers are in the console and you can plug-in your iPod or MP3 player. Preferable to working out with headphones on, unless you don't want to disturb someone.
Our Review - ProForm 10.0 ZE
Here's the scoop. If you can afford it, spend more money and get an elliptical trainer that is heavier duty. One that weighs more, has a longer stride and is more durable. If you can't, then the 10.0 ZE is one of the better values at $599 (Prices vary). Furthermore, protect your investment and opt for an extended warranty. This model comes with a 1 year parts and labor coverage.
I recommend the ProForm 10.0 ZE for moderate use by individuals who are not extremely overweight or very tall.
