The ProForm 1080 offers reverse action, allowing you to exercise additional muscles by reversing the elliptical motion. It has heart rate monitor, and is equipped with iFit - Interactive programming that pre-programmed workouts designed by personal trainers. We find it nothing more than a gimmick, also there is an additional charge to acquire programs. The biggest issue in a review of the ProForm 1080 is the quality of the components. The fact is when you spend less than $1,000 on an elliptical trainers there is going to be a compromise on the quality of the machine. If you want insight into the quality of the ProForm 1080 you only have to look at the warranty. It is 90 days parts and service.
Fitness Source Review - ProForm 1080 Elliptical TrainerThe warranty says it all. With a 90-day parts and labor warranty ProForm is basically saying, "don't plan on this machine lasting." There were two reviews by customers on Amazon, they both gave it "1" star out of "5". If you are still sold by the price call Dick's Sporting or Sports Authority and see if they stock them. Go and try one yourself. If you like it we strongly suggest you get an extended warranty. A couple of alternatives are the: Sole E35 Elliptical Trainer - $1,300 (Includes shipping). 2 year labor warranty. Smooth CE 2.1 Elliptical Trainer - $1,300 (Includes shipping) Consumer Report ProForm 1080 ReviewIn the review of 10 ellipticals by Consumer Reports the 1080 received the lowest ratings, but than again it was the cheapest elliptical. They did give it a "very good" for ease of use and "fair" for all other categories.
