ProForm 590 E Elliptical Trainer Review

2012 Elliptical Trainer Reviews     |     "Best Buy" Elliptical Trainers

Proform 590 E Elliptical Trainer ReviewThere are two factors that make the ProForm 590 E appealing.  First, the price when it is on sale.  For example, As of 5/16/11, the ProForm 590 E typically sells for $549 with shipping.  That is not a whole lot money to spend on an exercise machine.  Second, the ProForm 590 E comes with an incline ramp.  It works like the incline on a treadmill.  You can increase the incline and in the process you get a more intense cardio workout.  You also will workout different leg muscles.

However, there is one issue with this elliptical design that is found on several of their other models.  Overall, this is not the most stable elliptical on the block.  It is adequate if you plan to use it for moderate exercising and if you are not excessively overweight.  Otherwise you may find that this model will tend to be a bit shaky.  That is in comparison to the ProForm 1050E which is fairly stable, but also cost more money.

One other issue I have with the ProForm 590 E is the 18" elliptical stride.  The stride tends to be more oval and less elliptical.  Consequently, you get a bouncy feel.  In comparison the ProForm 1050E also has an 18" stride, but the stride feels more comfortable and natural.

Other Features — ProForm 590 E

iFit Card Technology — You can purchase iFit cards that provide 8-week progressive workout programs.  They control the resistance of the elliptical stride and includes audio coaching.  iFit cards are like having your own personal fitness trainer.

14 Installed Workout Programs — ProForm generally offers a generous variety of exercise programs.   You get a good selection of challenging workouts.

Sound System with MP3 Input — Standard on all ProForm Elliptical Trainers.

300 lbs. Weight Limit — As I stated, this elliptical trainer is not designed for excessively heavy individuals.  I consider 300 lbs. to be excessive.  I would place the weight limit at no more than 200 lbs.

Our Review — ProForm 590 E Elliptical Trainer

If you are not too tall or too heavy and the ProForm 590 E is selling for $600 or less with shipping, then I could suggest it with trepidation.  However, you are better off spending a few dollars more and getting the upgraded ProForm 1050E.  It also has the adjustable incline, however I feel it is more stable and has a more natural stride.
