ProForm 1100 E Elliptical Trainer Review

2012 Elliptical Trainer Reviews     |     "Best Buy" Elliptical Trainers

Proform 1100 E elliptical trainer review and ratingsThe ProForm 1100 E elliptical trainer has some appealing features, and the price is reasonable. This is a front drive crosstrainer, in comparison to a rear drive model. There are pluses and minuses to each. The advantages of the front drive are...

  • It is often more compact.
  • The pedals are often closer, putting less strain on your hips.
  • It is easier to mount and dismount.

Note: The ProForm 1100 E elliptical trainer typically sells for $999 with shipping. Go to www.ProForm.com for the latest price.*

ProForm 1100 E Elliptical Trainer Features...

30 Degree Incline — The ability to adjust the incline is one of the most attractive features of the 1100 E.  There are a couple of benefit to being able to adjust the incline.  Like walking up a hill, when you exercise at a steeper incline you are going to get a more intense cardio workout. And like walking up or down a hill, when you raise or lower the incline you will target different parts of your lower muscles like glutes, quads and claves.

iFit Live Compatible—  The ProForm 1100 E is compatible with iFit Live.  There are two features to iFit Live.  First, you can trace routes on Google Maps or pick a popular route from the iFit Live library (trails in national parks, cityscapes, etc.), and the ProForm 1100 E elliptical will simulate the terrain.  With the use of a laptop that fits on the console, you can visualize your progress through Google Maps with either a street, satellite or earth view.

In addition, you can get customized workout programs.  By going to iFit.com and defining your fitness goals, iFit Live will download a progressive workout routine. The exercise programs will control the incline and resistance of your elliptical and includes audio coaching.  Your stats are feedback to your iFit.com account so you can track your progress.  And studies have shown that those that track their progress are more likely to achieve their fitness goals.  There is an additional cost for the Wi-Fi module.

325 Lbs. Weight limit — They put the weight limit at 325 lbs. I do not believe that the machine is heavy enough for that type of user. I would put it at around 230 lbs.

20" Elliptical Stride — A typical stride length that most people find comfortable.

Built-in Speakers and iPod Ports — Music is a great motivator and with the ProForm 1100 E you have speakers built into the console and the ability to plug in your iPod player.

Fan in Console — A cooling fan built into the console blows a refreshing breeze onto your upper body to keep you more comfortable during workouts.

Controls in the Handlebars — I like this feature. You have the ability to make changes to the resistance or the incline on the moving handlebar grips. You do not have to break your stride and make changes on the console.

20 Workout Programs — If you don't want to spend the money on iFit Live, the 1100 E comes with 20 different workout programs that provides a variety of challenges. There are 8 weight loss programs and 8 timed workouts. I personally use a different program every time I workout on my crosstrainer.

Warranty — You get a 1-year parts and labor warranty, which is typical for the price.  You may want to consider getting extended coverage.

Our Review — ProForm 1100 E Elliptical Trainer

There are many features that I like on the ProForm 1100 E elliptical, however I believe the NordicTrack AudioStrider 990 Pro is a better choice. Both are built by the same company.

I feel that the NordicTrack AudioStrider 990 Pro is better built and is more stable. In particular I like the incline feature on the AudioStrider. NordicTrack leases the patent for the design from Precor, which builds commercial grade elliptical trainers. I recommend you read my NordicTrack AudioStrider 990 Pro review before you make a decision. There is also a less costly version, the NordicTrack E7.1.
