ProForm iSeries 785 F Elliptical Trainer Review

What makes the ProForm iSeries 785 F elliptical trainer an attractive offer are two features - the low price and the power incline.  In fact, this is the lowest priced elliptical trainer with an power incline.  However, at around $600 you can assume there are limitations to this budget model.

Power Intensity Ramp - Like a treadmill you can change the incline.  Naturally, when you crank up the incline you are going to get a more intense cardio workout.  You also break up the monotony of exercising with just a fixed elliptical stride.  One other advantage is you can target different parts of your lower body at different levels of incline.

Large Cushioned Articulating Foot Pedals - The pedals do a good job of angling with the angle of your stride.  The benefits are reduced strain and stress to your ankles.  You also get less pounding to your heal.  You'll notice the large cushioned foot pedals.  This further reduces impact.

Speakers and Music Port - Speakers are becoming a standard feature on most of the ProForm fitness equipment.  The reason is people like to listen to music when they workout. 

14 Workout Programs - ProForm is usually generous with the number of workout programs they install in their elliptical trainers.  The iSeries 785 F comes with 14 different challenges, which helps once again to break up the monotony.

Light Weight - This is not a heavy machine, in fact, they do not mention the weight in the specs.  You can assume it is around 100 lbs.  That means it is not designed for heavy individuals.  They put the weight capacity at 275 lbs.  I would put it at around 210 lbs.  Also, because this is a light weight machine, you may get some rocking motion if you are pushing it to the limits.

Budget Components - Budget elliptical trainers use budget components - Duh! Don't think you are getting commercial quality at this price.  Realize the ProForm iSeries 785 F is more incline to have service issues than a $1,500 elliptical machine.  In fact, I recommend you opt for the extended warranty and protect your investment.

18" Stride - The stride on the 785 is adequate for average height individuals.

Our Review - ProForm iSeries 785 F

When selling for around $600 the ProForm iSeries 785 F is a very good value - if you realize the limitations.  The incline feature is a big plus.

My recommendation - If you can afford a few hundred more get the ProForm 1200.  It also comes with a power incline, however, I feel this model is better engineered and will be more stable and sturdy.   If money is tight, the iSeries 785 F is a good value at $600.
