The
two features that standout on both are the 3-Position Adjustable Stride and the
SpaceSaver Design The 3-Position Adjustable Stride offers two benefits:
- Adjusting
the stride length allows you to workout different muscles, which can help you
achieve more definition faster. At the different lengths you can focus on your thighs, hips, abs
and buns.
- By adjusting the elliptical stride you can accommodate
users of different heights. However, considering this is a budget elliptical,
I'm not suggesting this machine is able to accommodate multiple frequent users.
SpaceSaver Design
My
first reaction when I found out that this elliptical trainer folded was
why? Elliptical trainers are not the space hogs as are treadmills. And when you
fold the StrideSelect you are not saving much space (24"). What I did find
out is when folded, it makes it very easy to move the elliptical around. Most
elliptical are a pain to move.
I was also concerned that having hinges in the
center of the machine may compromise the stability. I didn't notice any compromise
to the stability.
iFIT Technology - iFIT is one of the more innovative ideas to come out of the fitness equipment industry. It is like having your own private personal trainer to instruct and motivate you.
iFIT is a series of cards you insert
into the elliptical trainer (Price $30). Each card offers
an 8-week program that covers 24 different workouts. The programs
control the resistance and duration of the workout, and
are designed by personal trainers. Included is audio coaching,
motivation and suggestions to optimize your workout. There
are 3 levels to choose from - beginner, intermediate and advanced.
In addition, they cover different fitness goals - wellness,
weight loss, body shaping and endurance.
Our
Review - ProForm StrideSelect Elliptical
The 3 position adjustable feature
is what I find most intriguing about this elliptical. That, and the low price.
I recommend this elliptical for moderate use - 3-5 hours a week. If you are
a serious exerciser, you will want to consider ellipticals in the $1,500+ range.
This machine is designed for someone of average height and weight. If you are overweight, you need a heavier and more stable machine.
To summarize, when you buy an elliptical trainer at this price range you can assume that the quality of the construction is compromised. There are many satisfied customers who bought this machine, but if you can afford it I would suggest you upgrade to the ProForm CrossWalk or the ProForm Epic 1200.
Customer Reviews
Here is a comment from a customer on Amazon that bought a similar machine...
Most of the ProForm ellipticals in my opinion based on personal research are best for smaller built people such as women who generally also have an overall lighter body weight (well under the generally suggested 275 LBS).
After assembly machine made squeaks and noise. Contacted customer service. Wanted me to buy extended warranty. I said no machine was brand new ? After four months of use, less than 3 hrs a week the weld gave way at the front stabilizer bar. This machine is JUNK and I have not got any satisfaction from customer service even after the weld break. I suggest you DO NOT buy this elliptical trainer.
"I use this elliptical in the mornings when everybody else in my home is sleeping. The magnetic resistance keeps the machine very quiet so I don't have to worry about waking anybody up when I am exercising. If you are looking to buy an quality elliptical on budget then this is the one for you"
