StrideClimber 650 Elliptical
Trainer Review
I am usually cautious when reviewing an elliptical that sells for around $600. The reason being is because it is important to manage people's expectations. At this price range, you are getting a budget machine that is built with budget components. Also, in comparison to an elliptical for around $2,000 you are getting a light weight machine.
If you understand the limitations and your budget is limited, then you are in a better position in making a rational buying decision.
So let's talk about the ProForm StrideClimber 650 elliptical trainer. It sells at a very bargain price and it has the decent features - a standard trademark for ProForm. In fact, ProForm offers some of the best value for sub $1,000 elliptical trainers. It is one of their biggest sellers.

Features on the ProForm StrideClimber 650.
Stride and Climb Settings - You get the typical elliptical stride, and also a climbing stride. The advantage of the two strides is it focuses your workout on different parts of your lower body. With the climb setting you get a more vertical stride that targets your glutes and hamstrings.
18" Elliptical Stride - A comfortable stride length for an average height individual.
12 Workout Programs - There are 8 programs that focus on aerobic, weight loss, or performance goals. There are also 4 weight loss programs that are better designed to burn fat. Each program varies the level of resistance.
Other features include:
- A fitness journal that stores all of your fitness data for up to ten years allowing you to track your progress over time.
- A built-in target trainer that tells you when to push harder to maximize your workout.
- Heart Rate Monitor - A standard feature on all ellipticals. By holding the stationary handgrips you can monitor your heart rate.
Our Review - ProForm StrideClimber 650
There is no denying the price is a bargain, and the "Stride and Climb" setting is an attractive feature. However, there are some limitations to this elliptical.
- It is light weight. You won't get the same stabilty as a high price machine. I would not recommend this elliptical for someone over 210 lbs.
- It has a small flywheel. You won't get the same motion as an elliptical you may have used in a healthclub, and the StrideClimber 650 is not as quiet as a machine that cost twice as much. However, it is relatively quiet for the money.
- The warranty is limited. They don't list the warranty on the site, so that would suggest you get a 90-days parts and labor coverage. Definitely opt for the extended warranty.
Who should buy the ProForm StrideClimber 650? Someone that has a limited budget, is average height and not too overweight. If you fit that profile, then this elliptical is a good value for you. The sales numbers would suggest many fit into that profile.
Customer Review
This is the only elliptical I could find with the ability to change from a stride motion to a climb motion. It's like having an elliptical and a stepping machine in one! Very smooth, feels solid, wonderful machine. - Patty
