Reebok
1000 ZX Elliptical Trainer Review
The Reebok 1000 ZX elliptical trainer is a sweet machine. However, it is the NordicTrack AudioStrider 990 with the Reebok name on it. Both companies are owned by Icon Fitness, the largest manufacturer of fitness equipment in the world.
Icon bought the rights to the Reebok name to use on treadmills and elliptical trainers. The machines have nothing to do with the shoe company. Just like Reebok they bought the rights to the NordicTrack name, which use to be a company that sold the NordicTrack ski simulator machine.
That said, the Reebok 1000 ZX has some impressive feature for an elliptical that usually sells for around $1,000. In fact, the NordicTrack version received a "Best Buy" from a leading consumer magazine, and also got my Best Buy award for an elliptical in the $500-$1,000 price range.
Note: You can get the comparable NordicTrack version of the 1000 ZX for $999, with shipping. Go to

The Reebok 1000 ZX Elliptical Trainer Features.
Power Incline - Like the incline on a treadmill, you can adjust the 1000 ZX. This offers two advantages. First, it increases the intensity of your workout. When you crank up the incline it is like going up a steep mountain. Second, changing the incline allows you to workout different parts of your lower body. This gives you a more complete workout.
Sound System - You won't get the quality of a Bluapunkt system, but you do get speakers pointing directly at you, allowing the apex of the sound to reach you. You can plug in an MP3 or iPod player. I believe the special cable is extra.
Interactive Audio CrossTrainer - Verbally and visually prompts you to perform a variety of strength-training exercises throughout your cardio workout. This is a nice feature that adds motivation in achieving your fitness goals.
Folding Function - The Reebok 1000 ZX folds, allowing you to save space. When folded you are only cutting down the length by about 20". However, when folded it does make it easier to wheel around. Also, I found the folding feature does not affect the stability.
Our Review - Reebok 1000 ZX Elliptical Trainer
As I mentioned, this is basically the same machine as the NordicTrack AudioStrider 990. An impressive elliptical for $1,000, especially when you consider the incline feature.
Although the fact that it qualifies for what I consider a high-end budget machine, means it has some limitations. You are not buying a Precor or a Life Fitness elliptical. It is not as stable, smooth or sturdy. That is why they can charge several thousand dollars less.
If you are considering either the Reebok or NordicTrack version, I would recommend this elliptical for moderate use, and would place the weight limit at 220.
Customer Review
I love it, though it is designed for a taller person (Iam 5'2" and the fan goes right over my head) that is usually the case for most equipment. It runs very smooth and is not noisy.
