Our Review - Schwinn 431 Elliptical Trainer

One of the best endorsements for both the Schwinn 430 and the Schwinn 432 are the number of positive reviews on Amazon,con. The Schwinn 430 currently has 500 reviews, average 4.5 stars out of 5. The Schwinn 431 has 145 reviews with a similar customer ratings. No bad for what I consider a budget machine.

Why are these crosstrainers so popular and rated so favorably? For the money you are getting a fairly durable and stable machine that provides a comfortable and natural elliptical motion.

Regarding the price difference between the two machines. I've seen the Schwinn 431 as high as $899 and as low as $699. I would say the aforementioned upgrades are justified for an additional $100.

A further note, whether you decide on the Schwinn 430 or 431, I would consider purchasing an extended warranty. I believe Amazon offers a 2-year extension for $59. An inexpensive insurance on your investment.

Another model to consider is the NordicTrack 990. It received a "Best Buy" from a leading consumer magazine, in addition I gave it a "Best Buy" rating. It comes with a power incline, similar to a treadmill. At different levels you can focus your workout on different parts of your lower body.

I did a lot of research and comparison with most popular treadmills. The wife wanted something with a small stride and easy to use and I wanted a good cardio workout with in the 700-1000 dollar price range.  By far the Schwinn 431 wins hands down.  We had it for a week and loving it.   No shipping complaints and you can use Bill-Me-Later option.  Great value.
