The
Vision Fitness X6100 elliptical trainer is a solid machine that
should hold up well under normal regular use. The question is,
is it worth the price?
You will normally find Vision Fitness ellipticals sold in fitness
specialty stores. The good news is that they back up their machines
with good service. The downside is you often pay a premium for
the equipment they sell.
What I like about the Vision Fitness X6100
It has a smooth elliptical motion, which is the trademark of
Vision Fitness. You really notice the difference when you start
and stop the elliptical. That can be partially attributed to
the 24 lbs. flywheel. The X6100 is also very quiet, which is
always a nice feature if you are listening to music or the television.
And at 199 lbs, the machine is fairly stable.
You get a 19 ¾" elliptical stride. They could have
just said 20". At that length, most average to above average
users will feel comfortable. If you are less than 5'4",
you may find the stride too long and the pedals too far apart.
From talking to sales reps, the Vision ellipticals have a good
service record. It is always nice to have a reliable and reputable
machine.
What I'm not crazy about
The
LCD console is rather cheap. At this price range, you think
they would have an LED with multiple window readouts. In addition,
the selection of workout programs is limited. You get a total
of six. However, if you are into manually adjusting your resistance
it is a non-issue.
For the money, the warranty is average. You get lifetime on
the magnetic brakes, which is fairly standard. You also get
two years coverage on parts and one year on labor. Some brands
at this price range are giving 3-5 years on parts. Sole
is giving two years on labor for most of the ellipticals.
Our Review - Vision Fitness X6100
A solid machine, with a good service record. However, the real
question is, is it the best value at $1,700? This is a competitive
price range, and I would suggest there are other models to consider.
Also, be aware that this is a front drive machine. If you are
use to rear drive ellipticals you will find the feel slightly
difference. You tend to lean forward during the elliptical motion.

Consumer Reports Review
CR gave an excellent for construction. However, in overall
points it ranked below the Schwinn 430 at $599, and the NordicTrack
AudioStrider 990 at $999.
