Vision Fitness X6200 HRT Elliptical Trainer Review

vision fitness X6200 hrt elliptical trainer reviewI checked out a Vision Fitness X6200 HRT elliptical trainer recently. They are usually sold at fitness equipment specialty stores. What makes the X6200 unique is the fact you can fold it. I am not sure how important of a selling feature that is to the typical customer. You end up saving about 37" in the length of the machine.

What I liked about the Vision X6200 HRT…

The X6200 has a smooth flowing elliptical motion. The 19.75" elliptical stride is the length I prefer. It is ideal for average to taller individuals. If you are below 5'4", you may want to consider a machine with a smaller or variable stride.

Vision Fitness X6200 hrt consoleYou get a reasonable amount of workout programs, which adds variety to your workout. In addition, you get programs like Heart Rate Training Cardio, Weight Loss, Intervals and Hills. You also get four custom programs.

The console is well designed, giving you multiple readouts and a progression chart.
Finally, with the machine weight of 199 lbs. the X6200 is fairly stable.

What I did not like about the Vision X6200 HRT…

This is a front drive elliptical trainer, which means the pedals run on railings. There are two issues with a front drive machine. First, you tend to lean forward when working both the upper and lower body. Second, with pedals running along a railing, you have more parts that can wear out.

In particular, with the X6200 I did not find the pedals all that stable. I could rock them slightly left and right, which is an issue that will only get worse over time. This is because the pedals run on a single wheel and rail. In comparison, Octane has two rails per pedal, and Sole Fitnes has two wheels per pedal. Both have a more stable feel.

Our Review - Vision Fitness X6200 HRT

This is not a bad elliptical trainer, however it may not be one of the best values at $2,000. The stability of the pedals was a real issue to me. In addition, in talking to a manager ofa store that sold Vision, he mentioned they occasionally have problems with the flywheel. He also felt there was no real advancements in the design and engineering in the last few years.

Another consideration in a front drive elliptical is the Sole E95. It comes with a 2-year labor warranty and has 5-year parts coverage. The X6200 has 1-year labor and 3-year parts.

You may also want to check out the rear drive Smooth CE 7.4. It comes with an electro magnetic drive, which is an upgrade over the motor driven magnetic drive of the X6200. The CE 7.4 usually sells for $1,999 with shipping.
