Sculpt your upper body.  Strengthen your legs.  Improve your cardiovascular endurance.  Get a well-rounded, total body workout with just one machine: the Bowflex PR3000 home gym!

The above words may sound a lot like an infomercial, but there is a lot of truth in those words.  With the Bowflex PR3000 home gym, you can do over 50 different exercises!  How is this possible with just one piece of fitness equipment?

Note: As of 2/7/10 the Bowflex PR3000 was selling for $899 with shipping at Amazon.com. Where you can also check out customer reviews - most are very positive.

The answer lies in the unique design of the Bowflex PR3000.

Here’s a look at what this home gym has to offer:

  • 210 pounds of resistance through the Bowflex Power Rods for toning and building the upper body.  (You can upgrade to 310 pounds of resistance.)

  • Triple function hand grips for lat pull down
  • Triple function ankle cuff grips

With a much smaller footprint than most home gyms have, the Bowflex PR3000 takes up less space and also folds for easy storage( Dimensions are 83" H, 64" L and 41" W). That’s a real bonus for people who have limited space in their homes.

Our Review – The Bowflex PR3000 Home Gym

BowFlex PR3000 exercise routineCustomers who have purchased the Bowflex PR3000 home gym have generally had very good things to say about this machine.  One such customer remarked, “The Bowflex is one of the most amazing machines I have ever used. With its range of exercises and a little creativity on your part, you can do just about any exercise you want to do. I completely recommend this if you don't have the time to go to the gym or if you just really enjoy working out at home.”

Several  people said that they had trouble assembling their Bowflex PR3000 gyms.  But, once they got their units put together and started using them, they were generally satisfied with their purchases.

Another criticism is the suggested 210 pound resistance.  A number of people felt that was not a realistic number.  If your goal is moderate strength development you will find the standard resistance to be acceptable.  You may want to upgrade to the 310 pound resistance power rods in the future.

I do not recommend this product for serious weight lifters.  You may want to consider the BowFlex Revolution model or stick with free weights.

However, for someone who wants to build strength in the comfort of their home with a compact and affordable machine, the PR3000 makes sense.

Bowflex makes a good product!  The Power Rods may take a little getting used to, if you’re accustomed to free weights.  Once you get used to the feel of the Power Rods, however, you may prefer them over free weights.  You can certainly get a great total body workout on the Bowflex PR3000.

Customer Reviews on Amazon.com

PROS- Easy to put together, a perfect machine for me even at 6'3" tall. Felt a little awkward at first doing kickbacks but, got used to it quickly.
CON - It states it has over 50 plus exercises but only lists 27 in the book. I called Bowflex and they told me to go to their site and look up the exercise manual for the Extreme 2. I did and it shows ALOT more exercises because both machines are very similar except for the lat pulldown bar on the Extreme 2.
Everything else is perfect. I will definetly be using this machine for a long time. The fact that the weight is upgradeable to 310lbs and the no pulley change system are huge differences in the workout saving valuable amounts of time to focus on lifting.

This is my first home gym. I was looking for something easy to use and conservative on space. The Bowflex PR3000 is perfect for those wishes. I use it almost everyday and feel I get a great work out. The machine is very well made and sturdy, and so easy to put together. The Bowflex products are expensive, but well worth the money. This home gym is a great alternative when going to a public gym is inconvenient.
